The Altadena Chamber of Commerce & Civic Association offers an Open Session of its Board Meeting for the public to attend on the first Tuesday of each month, excluding legal holidays. Open Session allows the Chamber to keep members and the community engaged and informed while promoting transparency and encouraging community participation.
Our Open Session Board Meeting are held at 10:00am on the first Tuesday of each month. The Zoom link is posted on the Home Page (gray button) and the Event Page.

Board of Directors – Position Description & Expectations
Basic Function
The Board of Directors is the ultimate decision-making body of the Chamber and is the primary force leading the Chamber to fulfill the Chamber's purpose of advancing the commercial, industrial, and professional interests of the unincorporated community of Altadena, mandated to realize its opportunities to serve Chamber members.
The Board is responsible for establishing the direction of and policy for the Chamber; promoting the Chamber; actively leading the Chamber; serving as active members of the Chamber; serving as a community liaison; and ensuring the continued vitality of the Chamber. Directors shall avoid all conflicts of interest.
Responsibilities
- Promote the Chamber: Members of the Board of Directors are representatives for the Chamber and shall promote a positive image of the Chamber to members, prospective members, public officials, and the community at large. Directors shall actively seek to expand the Chamber’s membership.
- Actively Lead the Chamber: Directors regularly attend Board meetings and provide input on issues facing the Chamber. When unable to attend, Directors remain informed of developments. Directors are expected to serve on standing committees and actively participate in Chamber events, fundraising activities, and business-after-hours events.
- Serve as a Community Liaison: Directors serve as a contact between the Chamber and the community and bring forward concerns impacting Chamber members’ interests.
- Ensure the Continued Vitality of the Chamber: Directors assess the operating environment of the Chamber, approve financials, remain informed of the Chamber’s financial condition, and ensure compliance with applicable laws.
- Establish the Direction of and Policy for the Chamber: Directors raise policy concerns with the Executive Committee, draft and adopt policies, and may chair or serve on policy-focused committees.
- Avoid Conflict of Interest: Directors must recuse themselves from matters where personal or business interests conflict with Chamber interests.
- Ethical and Legal Integrity: Directors must uphold and agree to the Chamber’s Code of Ethics.
Pathway to Board Service
Prospective Directors are expected to demonstrate active involvement in the Chamber, for approximately 6 months prior to consideration for Board appointment.
Term of Service
The Director term is currently two (2) years, with an option for renewal for an additional two-year term. Directors may also be asked to consider officer positions in the future.
