In celebration of Black History Month this February, Huntington Health is honoring the contributions of Black Americans to our hospital, the Pasadena community, and beyond by hosting our first Charles Drew Black History Month Blood Drive. The event will take place Saturday, February 24th, at the Huntington Health Blood Donation Center, at our hospital in Pasadena.
Dr. Drew’s contributions to our nation’s health care are immense; we still see the impacts of his work to this very day. In honoring the legacy of Dr. Drew, we are dedicated to cultivating relationships with local service organizations and creating an opportunity for collective impact at a time when there is a nationwide blood shortage.
To ensure the success of the Charles Drew Black History Month Blood Drive, we are reaching out to prominent Pasadena area organizations that support the community. Thus far, we have received commitments from Vice Mayor Felicia Williams, the Links, Alpha Kappa Alpha, Alpha Phi Alpha, the Boule, St Barnabas Episcopal Church, and Jack & Jill.

The complete donation experience will take less than an hour. Please share this invitation with members of your organization to select their personal blood donation appointment times. Pamela Weatherspoon our Vice President of Diversity Equity and Inclusion will be present to welcome you all in our relaxation lounge along with myself and representatives from our Community Health Care Services team who will offer complimentary blood pressure and glucose levels screenings.
Each donor will receive a VIP gift bag as a token of our appreciation and self-parking will be validated.
