SMALL BUSINESS POP-UP FAIR: RECOVER TOGETHER TO RECOGNIZE YEAR ANNIVERSARY AND OFFER DIRECT SERVICES TO IMPACTED SMALL BUSINESSES

The Los Angeles County Department of Economic Opportunity (DEO) invites media to attend the Small Business Pop-Up Fair: Recovering Together, a recovery-focused community event and marketplace marking one year since the January 2025 wildfires. This event is hosted by DEO in partnership with the LA County Supervisor Kathryn Barger, LA County Department of Parks and Recreation, and Altadena Chamber of Commerce and local partners.

Attendees will have access to a wide range of on-site business service partners for 1:1 technical assistance and sign-up for recovery resources, including commercial permitting, new capital and grant programs, pro bono legal aid, financial subsidies for hiring youth and permanent staff, and more. Confirmed partners include DEO and County agencies like Public Works, Regional Planning, Treasurer Tax Collector, and Parks and community partners like Los Angeles County Economic Development Corporation, Pasadena City College’s Small Business Development Center and Women’s Business Center, Bet Tzedek, and ICON CDC.

As part of the day’s activities, a Shop Local LA County Marketplace, presented in partnership with the Altadena Chamber of Commerce, will feature local small businesses and offer residents an opportunity to provide direct support to impacted businesses.

FLYER SEEKING INTEREST TO LEASE SPACE
Sheriff – San Gabriel Valley and surrounding areas

The County of Los Angeles (County) Chief Executive Office (CEO) Real Estate Division (RED) is requesting information for available space to lease to the County in the San Gabriel Valley area. Below is general information about the space needs. Upon receipt of general information about available space, the County will follow up on those properties of interest.

GENERAL SPACE NEEDS

County Department/Program : Sheriff – Administrative office and Warehouse use

Search Area : 10 miles from Monterey Park.

Square Footage : Approximately 42,000 square feet of office space, including +/- 12,000 of warehouse space with ground level rollup door

Move in Date: As soon as possible after completion of Site Selection, County approvals, and construction of Premises.

Parking : 111 parking spaces for staff plus visitor parking

Tenant Improvement : Work is expected to include construction of private offices, open space for placement of systems furniture, conference and various specialty use rooms.

Lease Term : initial term of up to 15 years

Lease Type : a full-service gross lease direct with the property owner, which would include complete interior and exterior maintenance and repairs, custodial services and utilities provided by Landlord.

SUBMISSION INSTRUCTIONS

County will only review responses directly from building owners or their authorized listing broker representative possessing a current written listing agreement for the offered premises and or building.

All communication regarding this Flyer or any matter relating thereto must be in writing. COUNTY’S RIGHTS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

This Flyer does not commit the County to enter into a lease or contract for any services whatsoever. The County shall not be liable in any way or have any responsibility for any costs incurred with the preparation, submittal, or presentation of any response to this Flyer.

The County's election to negotiate in its sole discretion with one or more parties, and the issuance of a subsequent Bulletin, should not be interpreted to suggest that the County will enter into exclusive negotiations with any single party. The County retains the right in its sole discretion to enter into exclusive negotiations with any one or more parties or none of the parties

The County is not responsible for representations made by any of its officers, employees, or other individuals acting or purporting to act on its behalf prior to the execution of a lease unless such understanding or representation is included in the lease.

Notwithstanding a recommendation of a Department, agency, or individual, the Board of Supervisors ( Board ) retains the right to exercise its judgment concerning the selection of a proposal and the terms of any resultant agreement, and to determine which proposal best serves the interests of the County. The Board is the ultimate decision-making body and makes the final determination necessary to arrive at a decision to award, or not to award, a lease.

Respondents are hereby advised that this Flyer is requesting information only, and is not intended, and is not to be construed as, an offer to enter into a lease or as a promise to engage in any formal competitive bidding or negotiations pursuant to any statute, ordinance, rule, or regulation. The County may, at its sole discretion, reject any or all submittals received in response to this Flyer or may, in its sole discretion, reject all proposals and cancel this Flyer in its entirety. Cancel the entire Flyer;
Issue subsequent Flyers;

Request clarification from any or all respondents of any information contained in the submissions;
Request additional information from respondents as deemed necessary and appropriate by the County and to solicit additional information from third parties.
Conduct discussions with any or all of the respondents;
Exercise its discretion in evaluating submissions to determine the submission most advantageous to the County taking into account all terms and conditions;
Negotiate with any, all or none of the respondents;
Disqualify submittal(s) upon evidence of an organizational conflict of interest, false or misleading certifications or representations in its submission, or collusion with intent to defraud or other illegal practices on the part of the respondent(s);
Waive any minor deficiencies, informalities and/or irregularities in any submission or compliance by respondents with requirements for submission of proposals to the extent permitted by law;
Examine any books, records, accounts and other documents of any respondent as it relates to a submission.

NOTICE TO RESPONDENTS REGARDING THE PUBLIC RECORDS ACT

Responses to this Flyer become a matter of public record, except for those parts of each response which are justifiably defined as business or trade secrets, and plainly marked by the respondents as "Trade Secret," "Confidential," or "Proprietary."

The County shall not, in any way, be liable or responsible for the disclosure of any such record or any parts thereof, if disclosure is required or permitted under the California Public Records Act or otherwise by law. LOS ANGELES - During Volunteer Appreciation Week we want to take a moment to recognize and celebrate the incredible contributions of our dedicated volunteers at the Los Angeles County Department of Animal Care and Control (DACC). These selfless individuals play a vital role in supporting our staff and enhancing the lives of the animals in DACC’s care.

DACC volunteers are the backbone of the Department’s operations, providing essential support across all seven of DACC’s animal care centers as well as temporary animal shelters during emergency responses. Their commitment to maintaining cleanliness and hygiene in our animal housing areas ensures a safe and welcoming environment for the animals. From grooming to behavioral enrichment, our volunteers help our furry friends look their best and adapt to their new environment, increasing their chances of finding loving homes.

One of the standout contributions of our volunteers is their talent for capturing the personalities of our animals through stunning glamour shots. These photos showcase our DACC animals in their best light, helping potential adopters connect with their future companions.

Moreover, our volunteers are instrumental during adoption events where their enthusiasm and knowledge shine. They transport animals, provide exceptional customer service, and help match pets with the right families, ensuring that each adoption experience is smooth and successful. Their dedication to these events is key to finding forever homes for our animals.

In times of crisis, our volunteers step up to support displaced animals at DACC animal sheltering sites, providing round-the-clock care during emergencies. Their willingness to assist ensures that all animals receive the attention they need.

Additionally, our volunteers excel in fundraising efforts, organizing donations that help minimize costs for essential supplies at the animal care centers. Their resourcefulness and commitment to our mission make a significant impact on our ability to care for the animals.

Volunteers Helping Altadena's Business Community Recover

Altadena, CA — April 7, 2025 — The Altadena Chamber of Commerce is proud to announce Back in Business , a volunteer-powered initiative aimed at helping Altadena businesses recover after the Eaton Fire. This program is designed to streamline and coordinate relocation efforts, rebuild the local business community, and foster long-term economic sustainability—all driven by an army of dedicated volunteers.

Neighbors Supporting Neighbors

At the heart of Back in Business is its volunteer outreach program , where trained local volunteers reach out to connect directly with all impacted businesses—both for-profit and non-profit-- and provide personalized support. Volunteers:

Offer free one-on-one assistance to assess the needs of business owners who have lost their facilities or customers, or both, and, in some cases, also their homes.

· Listen and respond to needs of business owners coping with disaster-related trauma.

Build lasting relationships among neighbors aimed at reconnecting businesses with their client base.
Identify potential workspaces and match displaced businesses with relocation opportunities.
Provide businesses with guidance on permits, tenant improvements, and funding resources.

With County and Chamber personnel stretched thin, Back in Business fills the gap by mobilizing community members who are eager to support struggling businesses and restore Altadena’s economic landscape.

How the Program Works

The initiative is structured around two core efforts: Outreach Volunteers and Space Identification.

Outreach Volunteers: Back in Business recruits, trains, and deploys pro-active volunteers to help local businesses navigate the recovery process. Volunteers assess business needs through a structured questionnaire and connect them with the program’s legal, real estate, and architectural experts for pro bono assistance.
Finding Available Spaces: A dedicated team of commercial realtors and planners work to locate affordable, viable spaces for displaced businesses. This includes developing a database of available properties, conducting walkabouts to identify underutilized spaces, and exploring financial incentives and subsidies to make leasing more accessible.

A Grassroots Effort Built on Collaboration

Led by Pasadena Planning Commissioner Julianna Delgado through the backing of Councilmember Rick Cole, a grassroots Task Force launched Back in Business with the Altadena Chamber of Commerce as a direct response to the mass disruption caused by the Eaton Fire. The initiative builds on prior outreach efforts from Pasadena’s North Lake Specific Plan Area Update and relies on a select working group of professionals—including local attorneys, planners, architects, and real estate experts with close ties to Altadena. “Businesses are an essential part of a community,” says Delgado, an urban planner with disaster recovery experience. “Their return—through compassion, commitment, and cooperation--- is at the very core of successful rebuilding.”

Back in Business , a member of the Eaton Fire Collaborative, has partnered with the LA County Dept. of Economic Opportunity, the City of Pasadena’s Dept. of Economic Development, the Pasadena Chamber of Commerce, neighborhood associations, and local service and professional organizations to ensure businesses receive the support they need. Additionally, plans are underway to establish a Mercado-type community gathering space to foster micro-businesses and pop-up enterprises.

Today, the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors unanimously approved a motion introduced by Supervisor Kathryn Barger to provide critical economic recovery support to Altadena following the devastating Eaton Fire.

“Our small business owners are the backbone of Altadena’s economy, and we must do everything we can to help them recover,” said Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors Chair Kathryn Barger . “This motion provides much-needed financial relief and economic opportunities that will help rebuild and strengthen Altadena. By investing in local businesses, job creation, and public awareness, we are taking critical steps toward ensuring a full and lasting recovery.”

The motion sets key directives in motion and establishes important programs aimed at revitalizing the local economy, supporting affected businesses, and creating job opportunities for impacted residents.

The following are key provisions in Supervisor Barger’s motion:

Approving pop-up events and restaurants in vacant lots in Altadena for up to five years to encourage community engagement and economic activity.
Setting aside 500 Youth@Work positions next fiscal year to employ youth impacted by the Eaton Fire, providing them with meaningful job opportunities and career development.
Establishing a satellite America’s Job Center of California (AJCC) in Altadena to connect residents with employment resources and job placement assistance.
Designing and implementing a “shop local” public awareness campaign to support and promote businesses in Altadena as they work to recover.
Directing the L.A. County Development Authority to create a small business loan program , allocating up to $6.5 million to assist businesses that survived the fire, ensuring they have the financial support needed to rebuild and thrive.

“This is about reaffirming our County’s commitment to long-term recovery efforts in Altadena,” said Supervisor Barger . “It is my personal mission to ensure that both residents and businesses receive the support they need to rebuild stronger than before the Eaton Fire. It will not define our community.”

Submit Right of Entry Form Before March 31 Deadline

If you have not yet submitted your Right of Entry form, please submit the form here to take advantage of the debris removal program by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers—at no out-of-pocket cost to you. Property owners must decide to opt-in or opt-out of the government-sponsored program by the deadline on March 31, 2025 .

The form is available in Spanish, Russian , Armenian , Korean , and Simplified Chinese .

Opting-Out: Property owners who choose to hire private contractors for fire debris removal can receive an Eaton and Palisades Fire Debris Removal permit via the County’s EPIC-LA system . This permit allows home and business owners—and their authorized private contractors—to manage their own debris removal efforts while ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal safety and environmental standards. FEMA Assistance for Survivors with Insurance

Underinsured residents affected by the wildfires may be eligible for FEMA disaster assistance if your insurance claim was denied, delayed, or did not cover your losses.

Mental Health Support Available for Residents Impacted by Wildfires

The Los Angeles County Department of Mental Health is providing specialized mental health support to individuals and families recovering from the recent wildfires. Mental Health's Director Dr. Lisa H. Wong shares resources and support available to residents in the video below such the department’s Crisis Mental Health Line at 800-854-7771 and the 988 line , which is available for calls, texts, and online chats.

Deadlines are coming up at the end of March for key assistance programs.

The rap legend visits Altadena residents impacted by the Hurst fire

The devastation left behind by the horrific wildfires in Los Angeles has drawn an outpouring of support, especially from the music community. Between the FireAid concerts at Inglewood, California’s Intuit Dome and Kia Forum (Jan. 30) — featuring a rainbow of stars from Billie Eilish to Stevie Wonder — and the Grammy telecast (Feb. 2), more than $100 million in relief funds has been raised.

Just as important, however, are the boots-on-the-ground efforts like that of local rap legend The Game , who recently visited Altadena, California, as Billboard News tagged along. Ravaged by the Hurst Fire that burned more than 500 acres, the generational community boasts a rich Black cultural legacy given that Altadena was one of the first L.A. areas that openly welcomed Black home ownership. Billboard News was there when The Game, a native of Compton, California, headed to Altadena to talk — and dole out hugs — to first responders, local high school coaches, federal credit union members and more about their survival stories.

“This is some serious … It’s serious business, man,” The Game says to a pair of firefighters while visiting their station house. “After this experience, now, when I hear a fire truck coming down the street, I’m pulling over and I’m not annoyed because usually it’s like ‘argh, I got to pull over.’ My hat’s on, but it’s off to you guys, man.”

The Game also spoke with coaches from several high schools — Maranatha, South Pasadena, Pasadena and John Muir — who shared moving stories about losses they suffered, as well as their students, while encouraging residents to rebuild and not leave. “This was a predominantly African-American neighborhood,” DeAnthony Langston tells The Game. “Just to see this is terrible, man; you coming out says a lot.”

State of CA Awards $10 Million to LA County’s DEO to Support Workforce Recovery for Wildfire-Impacted Communities

Funding to Provide Immediate Employment, Humanitarian Aid, and Long-Term Workforce Solutions

Los Angeles, CA – The California Employment Development Department (EDD) has awarded $10 million to the Los Angeles County Department of Economic Opportunity (DEO) as part of a $20 million federal and state commitment to support workers and communities impacted by the devastating wildfires across LA County.

“For so many in our community, this funding represents the start of our recovery— opening up opportunities for impacted workers to put food on the table, help pay bills, and begin their journey to rebuild their lives,” said Kelly LoBianco, Director of the Los Angeles County Department of Economic Opportunity .

“The devastation of the Eaton Fire not only took residents’ homes, but their businesses and jobs,” said Supervisor Kathryn Barger, Chair of the Board of Supervisors . “This grant program is an important source of support that will bolster our workforce and bring stability to our community when they need it most.”

“My heart goes out to so many families in Southern California suffering extensive loss as a result of the fires,” said EDD Director Nancy Farias . “We want to do everything possible to lend a hand and support workers and businesses in this area as they try to get back on their feet. These funds offer an opportunity to support the community in starting their rebuilding efforts.”

Through this grant, DEO in partnership with LA City, Foothill, and our network of local workforce development boards and community partners will provide a range of targeted programs and services, including:

Temporary and Transitional Job Opportunities : Connecting displaced workers to humanitarian aid roles, cleanup efforts, and transitional jobs that offer pathways to sustainable employment.

Workforce Development Programs : Offering on-the-job training, skill-building initiatives, and career development services through DEO’s America’s Job Centers of California (AJCCs) to ensure impacted workers are equipped to thrive in the evolving job market.

Comprehensive Support Services : Providing additional assistance such as housing, childcare, and transportation support to stabilize families and enable long-term recovery.

The $10 million grant award to DEO will complement an additional $10 million allocated to both the City and County of Los Angeles, which collectively addresses urgent community needs such as debris removal, shelter operations, and community health support in fire-impacted areas. This funding is made possible by the U.S. Department of Labor and Governor Gavin Newsom.

“These combined efforts will help restore livelihoods, strengthen the region’s economy, and ensure affected residents have the resources they need while directly contributing to their community’s recovery,” said Kelly LoBianco.

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has officially begun Phase 2, marking a critical step in the region’s recovery efforts. Barry J. Nidorf Secure Youth Treatment Facility Gaming Experience

On January 7 ^th , Barry J. Nidorf Secure Youth Treatment Facility treated the young men to an exciting video game bus experience as a reward for 30 days of incident-free behavior. They spent the afternoon gaming, bonding, and having fun. Afterward, they enjoyed a delicious meal from "The Habit" in the visiting center. Great job to these young men for their positive efforts and teamwork!

Pine Grove Youth Conservation Camp Graduates and Others Speak at Barry J. Nidorf SYTF

On January 28, a panel featuring staff and graduates from Pine Grove Youth Conservation Camp gave a presentation of the career training available to youth of Barry J. Nidorf SYTF. Derrick Williams, a former resident of Barry J. Nidorf and now a firefighter, spoke passionately about his experience at Pine Grove. Actor Emilio Rivera and other panelists shared stories about their careers as well as life lessons available at the camp.

Attending youth were engaged and asked numerous questions during the Q & A portion of the panel.

Operating since 1945, Pine Grove Youth Conservation Camp (PGYCC) in Amador County offers rehabilitation and re-entry services for incarcerated youth through career training, therapy, and teamwork and is operated jointly with CAL FIRE and California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation. A new Disaster Recovery Center will be opening in Altadena on Monday, Jan. 27, 2025, from 9 AM to 8 PM and will be available to residents seven days a week .

The new center will be located at 540 West Woodbury Road, Altadena, CA 91001 .

Both the Pasadena and Altadena locations will be open through the end of January. However, beginning Saturday, Feb. 1, 2025, the Pasadena location will be closed , and all services will be shifted to Altadena.

Governor Newsom announces commitments from state banks and credit unions to provide mortgage relief for firestorm survivors

What you need to know: Governor Newsom announced additional commitments to provide mortgage relief for property owners whose structures were damaged or destroyed by the LA firestorms, adding state-chartered banks, credit unions, and mortgage lenders and servicers, as well as additional federally chartered institutions, to an existing commitment announced last week with five major mortgage lenders.LOS ANGELES — Governor Gavin Newsom today announced that 270 state-chartered banks, credit unions, and mortgage lenders and servicers have committed to providing mortgage relief for property owners in designated fire areas as a result of the devastation in Los Angeles and Ventura Counties. Similar to an announcement last week by five major lenders, these institutions have committed to offering impacted homeowners a 90-day forbearance of their mortgage payments, without reporting these payments to credit reporting agencies, and the opportunity for additional relief. One additional federally chartered institution has also joined in the commitment.

“Today’s announcement by federal and California-based lenders helps provide survivors with the time and relief to address their immediate needs, rather than worrying about paying mortgage bills. I thank each of the financial institutions that are offering this help for Californians recovering from this catastrophic firestorm. California will continue working with all stakeholders to support survivors, expedite recovery, and provide relief.”

The commitments were made by 270 state-chartered institutions, with collaboration from the California Bankers Association, the California Credit Union League, and the California Mortgage Bankers Association, which have expressed their support for these relief efforts.

“Credit unions are deeply committed to supporting their members and communities by offering immediate financial relief,” said Scott Simpson, President and CEO, California & Nevada Credit Union Leagues. “We’re working closely with Governor Newsom's office to provide assistance and long-term recovery options — including mortgage forbearance and flexible payment options — to ensure Southern Californians can focus on rebuilding their lives without the added burden of financial worries. These wildfires have caused immense trauma, and it’s imperative we step up to provide a safety net for those affected, administering continued relief and compassionate financial support as they navigate this challenging time. By offering a lifeline to credit union members who need it most, we can help prioritize their current financial needs and empower them on the long road to recovery. Credit unions are committed to being a source of strength and stability during this challenging time.”

“Our communities are hurting, and providing immediate financial relief is essential to our long-term rebuilding. “The Southern California mega-fires demand coordinated efforts to ensure all impacted Californians receive relief during these devastating times,” said Senator Sasha Renée Pérez (D-Glendale). “As the State Senator for the Eaton Fire-affected communities, including Altadena's historically African-American and working-class residents, I thank the Governor for responding to calls for mortgage relief. I also appreciate the financial institutions that stepped up to provide this critical support. This relief offers a much-needed respite for those facing a long recovery, and I’m grateful to California lenders for understanding the extraordinary hardships their customers are enduring.”

As part of today’s announcement, these financial institutions will offer their qualified borrowers:

90-day mortgage payment forbearance periods, streamlined processes for requesting initial relief without submitting forms or documents, payment options that do not require immediate repayment of unpaid amounts (i.e., no balloon payments) at the end of the forbearance period, and the opportunity for additional relief.
Relief from mortgage-related late fees accruing during the forbearance period for 90 days.
Protection from new foreclosures or evictions for at least 60 days.
Institutions will not report late payments of forborne amounts to credit agencies

The relief is available to qualified residents who are customers of these institutions in Los Angeles County in the following ZIP codes: 90019, 90041, 90049, 90066, 90265, 90272, 90290, 90402, 91001, 91104, 91106, 91107, or 93536. Not all state-chartered or other institutions operating in the state serve customers in the designated zip codes.

Borrowers must contact their mortgage servicer to obtain relief.

Supporting recovery, protecting survivors

Governor Newsom has issued a number of executive orders in response to the Los Angeles fire storms to help aid in rebuilding and recovery, create more temporary housing, and protect survivors from exploitation and price gouging:

Providing tax relief to those impacted by the fires. California postponed the individual tax filing deadline to October 15 for Los Angeles County taxpayers. Additionally, the state extended the January 31, 2025, sales and use tax filing deadline for Los Angeles County taxpayers until April 30 — providing critical tax relief for businesses .
Rebuilding Los Angeles faster and stronger. Governor Newsom issued an executive order to streamline the rebuilding of homes and businesses destroyed — suspending permitting and review requirements under the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) and the California Coastal Act.
Fast-tracking temporary housing. To help provide necessary shelter for those immediately impacted by the firestorms, the Governor issued an executive order to make it easier to streamline construction of accessory dwelling units, allow for more temporary trailers and other housing, and suspend fees for mobile home parks.
Mobilizing debris removal and cleanup. With an eye toward recovery, the Governor directed fast action on debris removal work and mitigating the potential for mudslides and flooding in areas burned. He also signed an executive order to allow expert federal hazmat crews to start cleaning up properties as a key step in getting people back to their properties safely.
Safeguarding survivors from price gouging. Governor Newsom expanded restrictions to protect survivors from illegal price hikes on rent, hotel and motel costs , and building materials or construction . Report violations to the Office of the Attorney General here .
Directing immediate state relief. The Governor is proposing California provide at least $2.5 billion in additional funding for ongoing emergency response efforts and to jumpstart recovery efforts for Los Angeles.
Getting kids back in the classroom. Governor Newsom signed an executive order to quickly assist displaced students in the Los Angeles area and bolster schools affected by the firestorms.
Protecting victims from real estate speculators. The Governor issued an executive order to protect firestorm victims from predatory land speculators making aggressive and unsolicited cash offers to purchase victims’ property.

Eaton Fire Update

January 10th, 2025

Dear SoCalGas Customer,

SoCalGas continues to actively monitor impacts from the Eaton Fire in Los Angeles County. Over the last two days, SoCalGas crews have been focused on maintaining reliable service for customers not impacted by the fire in this area while protecting public safety. SoCalGas has been coordinating with first responders and continues to assess impacts to its infrastructure as fire officials deem the areas safe and allow SoCalGas crews access to the affected areas.

Due to the extent of the damage SoCalGas crews have now observed firsthand, SoCalGas has determined it is necessary to temporarily isolate a section of its natural gas system.

We estimate that approximately 16,000 natural gas customers in the Pasadena, Altadena, and Sierra Madre communities will be impacted by this service disruption, including those whose properties may have not been impacted by the fire.

In areas impacted by the Eaton Fire, SoCalGas continues to shut off service to homes destroyed by wildfire. As of 2 PM on Friday January 10th, SoCalGas personnel have safely shut off service to approximately 772 customers.

Customers should not try to extinguish burning service lines at destroyed homes. Instead, residents are encouraged to keep their distance and notify SoCalGas at 1-877-238-0092 .

Restoration Process

Step 1: Safely Secure Infrastructure - SoCalGas crews must isolate the supply line and individually shut off the gas meters for impacted customers before restoration can begin.
Step 2: Assess and Repair - Once crews finish meter shut offs, SoCalGas technicians must conduct a leak survey before the area can be re-pressurized.
Step 3: Restore - SoCalGas technicians can begin the process of restarting natural gas service to individual residences after the area is re-pressurized.
Individual customers must have an adult home during this process to allow SoCalGas to perform an in-home safety check. Each residence could take 1-2 hours to restore, depending on the type and number of appliances in the home.

Due to the extraordinary number of impacted customers by multiple fires throughout Los Angeles County, the restoration process will take longer than usual. We are seeking mutual assistance from other utilities to bring in additional technicians in an effort to accelerate the restoration process.

We understand that being without natural gas service may be difficult, and we are working to restore service safely and as quickly as possible. We appreciate our customers’ patience during these extraordinary circumstances.

Additional Information

Customers who have had their natural gas service temporarily turned off for safety reasons will not be billed for service during this temporary outage. Rep. Chu Highlights Relief for Southern Californians from President’s Major Disaster Declaration

PASADENA, CA — Today, President Joe Biden approved a Major Disaster declaration for California, which unlocks immediate and long-term relief for residents and businesses impacted by the ongoing wildfires. These residents and business owners can begin applying for that assistance at www.DisasterAssistance.gov , or by calling 800-621-FEMA (3362), or by using the FEMA App . This relief includes: displacement assistance for up to 14 days to help cover hotel costs for those forced to evacuate, $770 for essential items, and larger direct grants to cover essential costs, medical bills, cars, and more. Small Business Administration low-interest loans are available for impacted small business owners and residents.

Rep. Judy Chu (CA-28), whose congressional district includes where the Eaton Fire is centered, joined colleagues today to urge this declaration and issued the following statement:

“I was devastated to hear that ve of my constituents have lost their lives from the Eaton Fire, and my thoughts are with their families and all those suffering from this week’s devastation. Residents in the wildres’ paths should continue listening to local emergency ofcials, preparing a to-go bag to evacuate, and following evacuation orders when given.

“I’m so immensely grateful at the unprecedented speed with which the Biden-Harris Administration approved Governor Newsom’s request – supported by my colleagues and me in Congress – to issue a Major Disaster declaration for Los Angeles County.
